Friend, This year, our democracy weathered serious threats. We’re worried, and we know we’re not alone. But with your help, this year we strengthened our work to protect voting rights in the Deep South with Vote Your Voice, our $30 million voter mobilization initiative. Next year will bring new challenges to our democracy as we fight to transition back to our democratic norms and values. With your help, we can become an even stronger advocate for voting rights, human rights and an equitable society for all. A group of supporters has offered to match your year-end gift, up to $1.59 million, giving you the opportunity to double your impact. Every dollar you send will be matched with another and immediately put to work on our most urgent campaigns for the coming year. We must receive your gift by midnight on Dec. 31 for it to qualify for the matching funds – so don’t wait to make your year-end gift! This year, states purged their voter rolls, blocked rights restoration efforts, slashed polling place locations, restricted early voting, allowed discriminatory voter ID laws and limited access to voting by mail. Black and brown people, women and young people have historically been denied access to the ballot box, and 2020 was no exception — these actions targeted communities of color and others who have historically faced opposition to their fundamental rights. We are committed to bringing real change in 2021 by expanding the vote, developing innovative litigation on behalf of people targeted by discrimination and injustice, and creating timely education resources that fight prejudice and promote equality. Thank you for your commitment to this movement. Your dedication to fighting voter suppression and white supremacy helped make the Vote Your Voice initiative and all of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s work to protect human rights and fight white supremacy possible. The challenges and attacks our communities faced in 2020 won’t stop overnight. In the coming year, let us work even harder to protect voting rights. Let us dig deeper to fight for criminal justice reform. Let us advance our values of equity and justice for all. Sincerely,
