John,
This year has been hard for so many American families -- here in California and across the country. We're facing a historic pandemic and the most serious economic crisis since the Great Depression. Over 300,000 Americans have died, which leaves millions of us mourning the loss of our loved ones.
Even in the hardest times, we can find a light in the darkness. I know that we can get through this pandemic, and this difficult year, because we're all in it together. As a community and a country, we can come together in support of folks who need our help.
This holiday season, far too many families are facing food insecurity. Far too many parents are having to make the difficult choice between putting food on the table and paying the rent. And the food banks that these families rely on -- including our local food bank here in CA-25, feedSCV -- are facing unprecedented demand.
John, that's why I am asking you to join me and extend some generosity to those in need. If you're able, can you make a donation of $5 or anything you can to feedSCV this holiday season?
I'm proud to work with feedSCV -- a community development organization that works to make fresh, sustainable food accessible for families in our area who need support. And this is personal to me: I know what it means to worry about having food on the table.
When my mom escaped the domestic violence in our home and became a single parent to my brothers and me, our family struggled. Mom worked hard -- going through community college at the same time -- but we were always a paycheck away from being able to make ends meet.
We made it through the hard times because our neighbors and community supported us. I'm committed to always doing the same for others, and I hope you'll join me.
This holiday season, I am personally asking you to think of the families and children in need here in CA-25 and across the country. Help support them by giving to feedSCV. Click here to donate $5, or whatever you're able, today.
Thank you,
Christy
