Friends and Neighbors,
As we're seeing coronavirus cases rise back up again, we know that this year's holiday celebrations cannot be what we're used to.
Over the weekend, we reached a peak number of COVID-19 deaths. Americans are suffering. And for those who have lost loved ones this year or are suffering through this difficult time, the holidays can exacerbate many feelings of hopelessness.
It's been a tough year, and we still have a long road to recovery ahead. We might not be able to see all of our family members or partake in the same traditions we love, but there are still ways that we can connect, practice compassion, and spread holiday cheer.
Video chats and mailing cards or gifts are a great way to send joy to your loved ones. You can give back to your community by donating goods or your time if you are able. And do not forget to take time for yourself. Treat yourself to some relaxation by reading that book that's been sitting on your shelf or that DIY project you haven't had time for.
The holidays won't be the same this year, and it won't be easy. But together, if we remain mindful, safe, and diligent, we can get through this together.
Take care of yourself and each other,
Carolyn
