Hi John,
My name is JP Grant. If you followed Respect Everywhere this year, you might know my story:
I took my transition at my own pace. I’ve always been an athlete, beginning at the age of 5 when I started swimming. When I was around 15 years old, I decided that swimming was too hard on my mental health to continue, because when I swam, I was presenting myself as a woman. That’s when I picked up football, and I loved it.
Soon after, I learned about GLSEN. I applied for the National Student Council and ended up serving two years as a council member.
Before I found the GLSEN support system, I felt isolated. Their work isn’t just about raising awareness, it’s about making sure students like me feel supported and know we’re not alone. Because of GLSEN, I was able to continue pushing myself and move forward. They have supported me as I take my transition day-by-day.
GLSEN’s work doesn’t stop here. So many students like me still need their support. Will you give a gift this December to ensure that these students are able to receive the kind of support system that I have? [[link removed]]
Don’t forget -- every gift to GLSEN this month will have twice the impact due to a generous match commitment by Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak.
Thank you for being a part of an organization that has been so important to me during my transition.
JP Grant
