We heard a lot from our readers this year about how important NPQ was to them. Much of that resonance was struck through collaborating in more generative ways with active leaders working in the varied fields of civil society. That’s brought forth a different kind of depth and breadth of perspective and creativity in our content.
NPQ’s Black men’s leadership series
(Curated by Tony Pickett and Marcus Littles)
One of the newer ways of working we instituted in 2020 was in publishing collaboratively with various networks of grassroots leaders. We feel very fortunate they’ve placed their trust in us and agreed to share their stores with our audience. This particular series, created in partnership with Tony Pickett of the Grounded Solutions Network and Marcus Littles of Frontline Solutions, was titled Black Male Leadership: Nonprofit Voices, Truth, and Power. The wide-ranging, six-article series fostered a conversation that lifted up Black male voices to highlight the unique and specific challenges Black male leaders in the nonprofit sector face amid ongoing racism within the sector, ongoing anti-Black violence, and the disparate racial impact of COVID-19.
