John,
In my role as Communications Director, I witness the impact our six state and regional offices make every day. These offices are strategically located to serve and fight for more than 40 percent of the children living in poverty in this country—and their achievements this year are nothing short of inspirational. As a partner in our work, I hope you’ll join me in celebrating a few of these wins: Our New York office spotlighted the stark racial, ethnic, and geographic disparities among children contracting a dangerous COVID-linked illness. In Ohio, our team led cross-state efforts to ensure every child was counted in the 2020 U.S. Census, no matter their citizenship status. Our Minnesota team used their free, online Bridge to Benefits tool to connect 76,900 Minnesotans to critical resources, from health insurance to utility assistance. The team in Texas published a New York Times-featured report showing how harmful, anti-immigrant policies have led families and children to disenroll from programs they depend on to survive. In California, our team and their partners successfully advocated for an expansion of the California Earned Income Tax Credit that will provide critical support to more than 200,000 children. The team in our Southern Regional office helped secure funding for more than 800 child care providers to purchase the personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies they need to operate safely. Through our incredible state offices, we bring the fight for children directly to the communities we serve—and then we bring what we hear in our communities back to Capitol Hill so we can fight for kids nationwide.
Your support makes this work possible. Learn more about our wins across the country this year. With gratitude,
