Since taking office, I've been working to expand economic opportunity and job creation for all Rhode Islanders. The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on every state's economy in the country, but I'm doing everything I can to move Rhode Island forward to the other side of this crisis:

Our office helped the state secure millions of dollars in emergency funding to maintain state operations during the COVID-19 pandemic, so we could continue to support crucial services provided by first responders and health care workers on the front lines.

We used the influence of our office to ensure that banks and credit unions would provide forgivable PPP loans to every Rhode Island small business in need of support, with no unnecessary strings attached.

And we've worked with our partners in government to develop bonding measures to stimulate our economy and support job creation in important areas like affordable housing and green infrastructure.

And because of my "Back to Basics" investment strategy, the RI pension fund has remained stable – outperforming 87 percent of our peers last year - despite the recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
