The Results Are In: A Record-Breaking 334 LGBTQ+ Politicians Were Elected in 2020
Queer candidates shattered more ceilings and achieved more historic firsts this year than any other.
Once these LGBTQ leaders are sworn in, the total number of LGBTQ elected officials serving in the United States and territories will be over 950! I can't wait until they take their seats around the country and start fighting for equality.
But while it's heartening to see the number of LGBTQ elected officials growing, it means the staff of LGBTQ Victory Institute has our work cut out for us. As the only national organization that focuses on fostering and growing LGBTQ elected officials' careers, we're going to need more resources to keep up with the growing number of elected officials. We're hoping to raise $25,000 by midnight on New Year's Eve 2020. Will you make a generous donation to power our programs?
Right now, we're expanding our Constituent Engagement programs to offer our elected officials more opportunities to gather, strategize and advance equality together. With your help, we can defend them against bigoted attacks, raise their national profiles and ensure they have the connections they need to effectively govern.
And that's just the beginning of what we have planned. We're going to have our work cut out for us. If we're going to support a new group of LGBTQ elected officials, expand our programming and train more LGBTQ leaders, we're going to need your help! Make a tax-deductible donation towards our End of Year Goal today!
Thanks again for all your do,
