World BEYOND War is taking part in the People's Mobilization in New York, and is joining in the shutting down of DC today, and other climate actions around the world. After the usual laborious efforts, we managed to get another coalition (Shut Down DC) to mention peace slightly at the bottom of a back page of the website here. The project of getting those who care about the earth to notice militarism will of course be ongoing for as long as we're going on. Requirement That There Be Some Basis for Any Foreign Bases Faces Senate The U.S. House of Representatives passed an amendment to the "National Defense Authorization Act" introduced by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar requiring that the U.S. military provide Congress with the cost and the supposed national security benefits of every foreign military base or foreign military operation. Now, as the House and Senate reconcile their two versions of the bill, they need to know that we want this amendment left in it. Learn more.
