John,
Do you need more convincing before you make a special year-end matching gift to become a member of The Trust for Public Land? Take Bald Mountain Pond in Maine’s North Woods.
With cold, clear water … century-old forests … views of Mount Katahdin … and an iconic stretch of the Appalachian Trail, Bald Mountain Pond has been beloved by generations of paddlers, anglers, and hikers.
The timber interests that owned the pond and surrounding forest had allowed recreational access to the area. But with the region’s timber economy in flux and land ownership shifting from local companies to big corporations, visitors began to find locked gates and “No Trespassing” signs. Thanks to friends like you, The Trust for Public Land rallied community, state, federal, and corporate partners to keep this natural wonder open to all. In September 2020, we permanently protected over 2,600 acres of land and expanded access to paddling, fishing, hiking, and camping!
Your year-end gift of $25
to help save and protect land will be matched to become $50. Give $35
and your gift will double to $70. Give $50
and your gift will have twice the impact, growing to $100.
This holiday season — and forever — 2,600 acres surrounding Bald Mountain Pond’s rugged shoreline and an iconic stretch of the Appalachian Trail are protected from development and open to the public.
We’ve unlocked the gates around Bald Mountain Pond. But in order to help expand access to lands and parks for everyone, The Trust for Public Land needs to unlock every dollar of this year-end match right now.
We also have to meet our five-year goal to protect one million acres of land … create parks within a 10-minute walk of the five million Americans who currently don’t have access to one … and build 1,000 miles of trails for people to get outdoors. There’s no time to waste.
Our generous supporter will match your tax-deductible year-end gift, dollar for dollar, but only until December 31. Please don’t wait. Please make your special holiday gift to The Trust for Public Land today.
Sincerely,
Kim Elliot
Senior Director of Annual Giving
P.S. Thanks to one of our generous supporters, your special year-end gift by December 31 will be matched, dollar for dollar, to create parks and protect public lands for people.
