John,
We’re just days away from Jamaal’s swearing in. Now we’ve got the official word that Jamaal has been selected for the House Education and Labor Committee. As an educator and principal for two decades, this is a good fit for him.
Our government has failed to provide every child with a good public education. Now, we’re on the committee, and in a position to do something about it.
Our current system amounts to educational apartheid. Majority-minority school districts receive tens of billions less in funding than their majority-white counterparts. The children who are getting left behind are overwhelmingly Black, Latinx, immigrant, or poor and working-class children of all races. Many of them live in the 16th Congressional District in Westchester County and the Bronx.
In 2021, we’re bringing the fight for these kids to Congress. And you can help Jamaal do it. If we’re able to raise enough money online to keep his re-election campaign funded, that will allow him to focus 100% on his legislative work.
Most members of Congress spend hours and hours every day calling up wealthy donors to get re-elected. That cuts into the time they spend on committee work and legislating. We’re hoping to do something different.
Think about it. Jamaal had to raise almost $3 million to get elected the first time. This time around, if we can fund this campaign online from emails like this one, we’ll put Jamaal in a position to focus on the work.
Add a $3 donation right now so Jamaal can spend his time legislating, not fundraising in 2021.
We’re so excited to see what Jamaal can bring to the Education and Labor Committee. From participating in the hearings to introducing new legislation. All of the good stuff to come was made possible by the people like YOU who voted, volunteered, and donated Jamaal into this position. So thank you.
