Environmental justice

John,

Climate change is fueling destructive flooding across the country, displacing countless communities and wildlife.

Each major flooding event worsens food insecurity for people and wildlife, leaves polluted waters and degraded land in its wake, and—too often—is followed by a slow and insufficient government response. Disproportionately residing in our nation’s floodplains and coasts, low-income and Black, Latinx, and Indigenous families have long called for projects, like the restoration of wetlands, to mitigate floods and sea-level rise—but progress has been slow.

In response to the critical need for action, the National Wildlife Federation’s Board of Directors and President’s Leadership Council has issued a $1 Million Matching Gift Challenge and will match every dollar you give before midnight on December 31.

Help us expand our work to elevate community-identified solutions to the climate crisis that can make a difference for people and wildlife. Please make a matched gift of $30 before our December 31 deadline to support these vital efforts.

Year End Matching Gift Challenge - $807,325 TO GOAL!

Communities on the frontline of the climate crisis provide critical insights into how a climate-resilient future can create healthier homes and habitats. Low-wealth families and communities of color are often hit first—and worst—by the climate crisis.

That’s why the National Wildlife Federation is deepening community partnerships—from New York City to Birmingham to San Juan—to engage the next generation of conservationists, support community-led climate resilience projects, and elevate voices too often left out of the disaster policy-making process.

Together, we can fortify communities from climate-fueled flooding by restoring wetlands, forests, and oyster reefs. But we need your help to ensure federal agencies and lawmakers at the state and federal level invest in these natural solutions in the communities at the frontlines of the climate crisis.

Will you make a matched gift today to help us fight for smart solutions that safeguard people and wildlife?

Investing in historically under-resourced communities to restore flood-mitigating wetlands and natural landscapes provides a national roadmap forward, rooted in science, conservation, and equity.

United, we can help communities and habitats in flood zones not just survive, but also thrive.
