Dear John,
The first genetically engineered animal -- GMO salmon -- could end up on your
plate by the end of the month. Take action to urge hotel giant, Marriott Hotels, to not sell GMO.

Right now, our food system and wild salmon face an urgent new threat. GMO salmon
company AquaBounty is attempting to sneak its engineered fish onto the market
via restaurants and dining halls. So far, two out of three of the “Big 3” food
service companies that serve millions of meals to hotels, cafeterias, schools
and restaurants have said no to GMO salmon -- but Marriott, with its 10,000
restaurants and bars, hasn’t yet joined them.
This means this risky genetically engineered salmon could end up on your plate
without you even knowing it.
Tell Marriott to be a leader and help keep unlabeled GMO salmon off our plates!

unlawful. But AquaBounty is pushing it into the market anyway -- and it won’t
have to be labeled.
GMO salmon poses huge risks for wild salmon, our health and the livelihoods of
fishing and Indigenous communities. If they escape from production facilities, they could pose irreversible harm to
wild salmon populations. Scientists have also raised red flags about potential
health risks, such as triggering allergic reactions. What’s more, salmon is a
cultural keystone for many Indigenous communities, in addition to providing a
source of income and food. If wild salmon populations are harmed by GMO salmon,
it could be devastating for these communities.
Thanks to pressure from concerned activists like you, more than 80 food
retailers, including Kroger, Walmart, Costco, Albertson’s, Trader Joe’s, and
Whole Foods, restaurants like Red Lobster and Legal Seafood, and food service
giants Aramark and Sodexo have made commitments to not sell GMO salmon.
Now it’s Marriott’s turn to say no to sourcing GMO salmon for the millions of
meals it provides to hotel restaurants.
Demand Marriott Hotels commit to buying sustainable seafood and say no to GMO
salmon!

for other GMO animals in development, including pigs, chickens, and cows, to
also end up on our plates. These animals are being genetically engineered to better fit into filthy,
crowded, inhumane and polluting factory farms that are terrible for animal
welfare, our communities, our health and our climate.
If we convince restaurants and food service companies to reject GMO salmon, we
can keep it off our plates and out of the environment. And we can send a signal
that we want a truly sustainable, humane and equitable food system -- not more
risky GMOs and factory farms. But we can’t do it without your help,
John.
Protect wild salmon, our communities, and our health. Tell Marriott Hotels to
make a commitment to not purchase GMO salmon.
