Join Freedom House and Venezuelan human rights defenders from Defiende Venezuela, Un Mundo Sin Mordaza, and Foro Penal for a special photo exhibition and panel shedding light on the human rights emergency currently unfolding in Venezuela.

Opening remarks will be delivered by Freedom House President Michael J. Abramowitz, and the event will be moderated by Deborah Ullmer, the Regional Director for Freedom House’s Latin America and the Caribbean programs.

Photo Exhibition: Victims of the Dictatorship in Venezuela

Presented by Juan Rodrigo Diamanti, President of Un Mundo Sin Mordaza, an NGO that promotes human rights, artistic expression, and freedom from authoritarian rule in Venezuela.

Precautionary Measures for the Protection of Members of the National Assembly in Venezuela

Génesis Dávila – Executive Director, Defiende Venezuela, an organization that processes human rights cases and raises awareness of the Inter-American-Human Rights system.

Systematic Patterns of Political Persecution

Alfredo Romero – Executive Director, Foro Penal Venezuela, an organization that utilizes its network of lawyers and human rights defenders to provide pro-bono legal protection for victims of arbitrary detentions.

Issues of Freedom Of Speech in Venezuela

Edison Lanza – Inter-American Commission on Human Rights Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression
