We are so grateful for the support that directly fuels our work in changing narratives and preparing Muslim screenwriters to succeed in the industry. In order to continue this kind of work, now more than ever, we need your urgent support to reach our $2,300,000 goal before December 31st. Please consider donating $100 to MPAC today! While the pandemic shut down film locations and sets, screenwriting and work toward inclusion continued. Our Hollywood Bureau consulted on television and film projects, connected Muslim screenwriters with industry partners, held screenwriting labs and competitions, and contributed our thought leadership on panel discussions.
Here are some of the things we accomplished this year:
* Consulted on upcoming film and TV projects featuring Muslim characters for NBC/Universal, HBO Max, Wonder Street Entertainment, Netflix, and other major studios.
* Held Screenwriting Labs ([link removed]) in Children’s Media (with Practice Wonder and Pearl Street Films), and in Feature Film/TV Series (with Familiar Stranger). Some of the screenwriters in those labs are now collaborating on industry projects.
* Published op-eds and were featured in articles in The Hollywood Reporter ([link removed]) , Variety ([link removed]) , The Wrap ([link removed]) , and Deadline ([link removed]) .
* Launched The Muslim List ([link removed]) screenwriting competition in partnership with The Black List ([link removed]) and Pillars Fund, which will be the first industry list specifically promoting scripts by Muslim screenwriters.
* Amplified the voices of African American Muslim creatives through webinars and a panel discussion with Women in Film ([link removed]) , emphasizing the importance of Black Muslim voices, stories, and narratives in the industry and within our communities.
* Hosted our third panel at the annual Sundance Film Festival ([link removed]) and co-hosted Social Impact panels withNBC, Nickelodeon, The Writers Guild of America, and The Producers Guild of America. ([link removed])
* Recognized by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences ([link removed]) and the Advancing Diversity Hall of Honors ([link removed]) for its work toward inclusion and representation.

This work is changing hearts and minds about our communities and is only possible with your support. Please help us to continue building these networks, sharing our perspectives, and preparing Muslim writers to succeed in telling their own stories.
In peace,
Sue Obeidi
