Dear Reader,

My name is Jay Manning. I have been a visual storyteller and producer with PublicSource for about a year now. In the three or four years before I joined this small, yet ambitious news organization, I’d lost any interest in working for news media. I’d graduated college with a journalism degree, but I fell out of love with it after seeing how many organizations deliver less than honest and fair stories.

My thought was, “If journalism can be so skewed due to outside factors (politics, racist undertones in speech, for-profit organizations and their hunt for the dollar, etc.), what could I possibly do outside of becoming another cog in the machine?”

Then I met the PublicSource team — a group of journalists dedicated more to telling stories that matter than worrying about likeability or protecting their advertising dollars. Our news organization focuses on making a difference in the community, not appeasing political parties or special-interest mindsets. PublicSource, in today's journalistic climate, stands out as a truth seeker and a sort of lighthouse in a fog of swirling social media posts and one-sided stories.

As a nonprofit organization, your donations make the most difference to us especially during these difficult times. Reader support empowers our reporters to bring you real, honest and impactful stories. In the midst of a pandemic and one of the most important presidential elections of all time, we’ve been working to provide the information you want and need. Right now, your support will be matched, so please make a gift to help us be there for all the stories yet to come.
Make a MATCHED gift to PublicSource today.
Thank you for your continued support.
