We’re proud to announce a new investment in the Georgia Democrats’ Asian American and Pacific Islander outreach program, the vital community-building effort that will make an incredible difference in the runoff elections on January 5.
Republicans want to suppress the voice of the people any way they can. As Vanity Fair reported, the GOP is “limiting early-voting locations in Democratic-leaning areas” and “pushing to tamp down on absentee voting and implement photo ID requirements,” measures that we know disproportionately disenfranchise voters of color.
Your donations have allowed us to fight back, helping the Georgia Democrats hire organizing staff dedicated to AAPI outreach, make sure AAPI voters receive in-language literature about the elections, provide voter protection resources, and host virtual and in-person community events. We can expand the diverse, progressive coalition that flipped Georgia blue in November -- in fact, we have no other choice.
Because if we don’t, Republicans will win these races. Both Democrats, Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, got less votes than their GOP opponents in the general election. That’s one reason outreach like the kind we’re doing is so crucial. If we don’t grow our team, Mitch McConnell stays Senate Majority Leader under Joe Biden -- and progress stays stalled for the next presidential term.
We’ve come too far to allow that now. But even with this new investment, we’re still not where we’d like to be with our on-the-ground community engagement and AAPI outreach efforts. Every single eligible voter must be informed, mobilized, and activated before January 5.
