Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs
The Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs will discuss the monetary policy in the euro area together with European Central Bank President, Mario Draghi, on 23 September 2019. This will be the last Monetary Dialogue held by the Committee with Mario Draghi, whose term of office will end on 31 October. This will also be his last participation to an ECON meeting as Chair of the European Systemic Risk Board.

Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality
The Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality will go over the work of the Experts Forum of the European Institute for Gender Equality’s (EIGE), together with representatives Edit Bauer and Mikael Gustafsson. The Committee will also look into the main objectives of the Finnish Presidency in the field of gender equality, together with Finnish Minister for Nordic Cooperation and Equality, Thomas Blomqvist.

Meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group (JPSG) on Europol
The JPSG brings together Members of national parliaments and the European Parliament to fulfill the scrutiny and oversight on the activities of Europol including on fundamental rights. The JPSG meets at least twice a year. It is Co-Chaired by the European Parliament and the country holding the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Tuesday 24 September

Committee on Budgets
The Committee on Budgets will go over amendments tabled to the Draft Budget 2020 by committees, political groups and individual MEPs. The Committee will also discuss contingency measures on implementing and financing the EU budget in 2020 in case of a no-deal Brexit. If this extension of the 2019 contingency Budget Regulation were to be adopted, the UK and UK beneficiaries would, under certain conditions, participate in programmes under the EU budget and receive financing.

Committee on Employment and Social Affairs

Debate: Employment and social policies of the euro area and achievements and challenges ahead
Voting: General budget of the European Union for the financial year 2020 

Committee on Transport and Tourism
The Committee on Transport and Tourism will look into the latest development with respect to the TEN-T core network corridors Baltic-Adriatic, Rhine-Alpine, Mediterranean and Scandinavian-Mediterranean. The meeting will take place together with the European Coordinators of these TEN-T core network corridors.

Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs
Debate on LIBE priorities for the 9th parliamentary term
Voting: Temporary reintroduction of border control at internal borders and other

Thursday 26 September

Donald Tusk at UN General Assembly
Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, will address the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on behalf of the EU. The general debate of the 74th session of the UNGA opened on 17 September, centred around the theme ‘galvanizing multilateral efforts for poverty eradication, quality education, climate action and inclusion’.

Council of Ministers

Tuesday 24 September

Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council
The Council will focus on the contribution of the energy sector to climate action. Ministers will first hold a public debate on the European Commission's communication about the draft national energy and climate plans.


Thursday 26 - Friday 27 September

Competitiveness Council
On Thursday, Ministers will hold a public policy debate on the long-term EU strategy for sustainable growth. In the same context, they will exchange views on the external dimension of the EU's competitiveness - under the competitiveness check-up. 
On Friday, research ministers will also have the possibility to debate publicly the long-term EU strategy for sustainable growth.In addition, they will exchange views on the possible interlinks between Horizon Europe and other EU programmes.

European Commission and High Representative
23-30 September

European Week of Sport 2019
Led by the European Commission and co-organised by national coordinators and sport partners all over Europe, the event promotes an active lifestyle through a variety of celebrations and events.
In 2019, the 5th European Week of Sport will be the biggest ever, with events supported by 47 partner associations in 41 countries. The event is for everyone – regardless of age, background or fitness level – and helps individuals, public authorities, the sport movement, civil society organisations and the private sector collaborate in the field of sport.


23-25 September

Timmermans and Mogherini in New York
Frans Timmermans leads the European Commission delegation to the United Nations General Assembly 74. He will meet George Soros, give a speech at Columbia University, give a speech at the Tropical Forest Alliance and give a speech at the WWF Leaders Event for Nature and People.
Federica Mogherini chairs the informal meeting of EU Ministers for Foreign Affairs, participates in the meeting of the International Contact Group on Venezuela and joins the Global Board meeting of the 'Generation Unlimited' initiative, the event on the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child.


23-24 September

High level Conference on Advancing LGBTI equality in the EU: from 2020 and beyond
The Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the European Commission will host a high-level conference on 'Advancing LGBTI equality in the EU: from 2020 and beyond' with speakers from EU Member States, the European Parliament, the European Commission and international NGOs.The debates and discussions of the conference will inform future policies aiming at advancing LGBTI equality in the EU.

The Language Crowd - How digital and social media are impacting translation
The conference will aim to offer insights into the ways in which social and digital media are effecting change on the translation profession - not only as regards the ways in which translators work, but in terms of how languages are viewed and used in online communications.

The conference on safe physical activity and sport for children and youth is expected to gather some 120 experts, policy-makers and decision-makers in the field of sports.

The aim of this seminar is to take stock of recent developments and discuss how EU transparency should be developed in the future with the contributions of experts from EU institutions and agencies, civil society and academia.

"Somewhere beyond the Rainbow? – Human Rights and LGBTIQ” Symposium
FRA will speak at a symposium, entitled ‘Somewhere beyond the rainbow’, organised by Vienna University and Ludwig Boltzman Institute.
It will address the human rights situation of LGBTIQ people from the international, European and national perspectives. It will bring together legal experts and practitioners.

EEA and Norway Grants and FRA discuss cooperation

FRA will welcome representatives of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Permanent Mission of Norway to the International Organizations in Vienna and the Financial Mechanism Office on 24 September.
The meeting is part of their annual reunions to review and support cooperation between FRA, and the EEA and Norway Grants.

Thursday 26 September

Conference in Budapest on LGBTI people and violence in Europe
FRA will attend a conference in Budapest on LGBTI people and violence in Europe: studying attitudes, changing minds.
The main results from the European Call it Hate project will be shared. The project addresses LGBT communities and the wider general public, aiming to raise awareness of anti-LGBT hate crime among victims and witnesses and encouraging reporting.
FRA will speak in two sessions: on the main results of its research and on tackling anti-LGBT hate crime at the European and international level.The focus of FRA’s participation will be from the angle of hate crime, since no data from the LGBTI survey is available yet.

Energy Demonstration & Future Mobility Event
The Energy Demonstration and Future Mobility Event will be opened by Mr. Dario Scannapieco, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank and will bring together key stakeholders of the energy and transport sectors to share their experiences, views and insights. The EIB will present its venture debt activities and more specifically the Energy Demonstration Project and Future Mobility facilities. The panel will address the challenges ahead to boost Italy’s change-making cleantech innovation

Conference on the fight against domestic violence: the role of the police
Co-organised with the French Presidency of the Committee of Ministers, the conference will bring together high-ranking representatives of Ministers of Internal Affairs to exchange good practices and highlight new measures enabling the police to fight domestic violence more effectively.

Council of Europe marks 25 years of the fight against racism and intolerance
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), a conference will be held to take stock of its action and the progress achieved in Europe in the fight against racism and intolerance, but also to develop responses to new challenges in this field.
