Study of Healthcare Workers Shows COVID-19 Immunity Lasts Month NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins released a blog post about a study among healthcare workers that shows COVID-19 immunity lasts many months. New findings from a study of thousands of healthcare workers in England show that those who got COVID-19 and produced antibodies against the virus are highly unlikely to become infected again, at least over the several months that the study was conducted. In the rare instances in which someone with acquired immunity for SARS-CoV-2 subsequently tested positive for the virus within a six month period, they never showed any signs of being ill. In-person Schooling and COVID-19 Transmission A review of current evidence, compiled by UNICEF and UNESCO, shows that in-person schooling does not appear to be the main driver of infection spikes, children in school do not appear to be exposed to higher risks of infection compared to when not in school when mitigation measures are in place, and school staff also do not appear to be at a higher relative risk compared to the general population. Managing Chronic Health Conditions JDRF Launches T1Detect Screening Education & Awareness Program The goal of T1Detect is to equip the T1D community and the general population with knowledge about the benefits of screening and provide a new avenue to get screened. It also provides support for those who, after screening, are determined to be at risk for T1D. This new program will also include important education for healthcare professionals who can support increased awareness among the T1D community.
