Dear John,
I don’t know about you, John, but once this pandemic is
over, I want to cross some things off my bucket list. I want to see the Grand
Canyon. And the Rocky Mountains. Chaco Canyon. Yosemite. Sequoia National Park.
But right now, all of these places are under attack. We need to act fast to stop
Big Oil from destroying our public lands. Rush a $10 donation to Friends of the Earth.

Since Trump took office, his administration has worked hand-in-hand with Big
Oil, Big Ag, and Big Timber to hand over public lands to the fossil fuel
industry, including America’s most iconic wild places. This means uranium
mining, oil drilling, fracking, and horrific health impacts on local
communities.
If we don’t act now, our wild places could be turned into industry megaprojects,
and oil and gas sites that blight our landscapes and poison our planet and
communities.
Stop the fossil fuel industry from wrecking our public lands. Support Friends of
the Earth with a $10 donation.

[[link removed]]This administration’s assault on public lands has been brutal and relentless.
Early on in his presidency, Trump reduced the size of Bears Ears national
monument by 85% after meeting with the oil, gas and uranium industries. That
same year, he reduced Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument -- nearly 1.9
million acres of protected land in Utah -- by 47% for coal interests.
Meanwhile, Trump has worked tirelessly to gut the Endangered Species Act -- one
of the greatest legal safeguard of public lands and all wildlife habitats. He
has fought to open America’s coastlines to offshore drilling, and opened the
Arctic to drilling as well.
His latest attacks include a last-ditch effort to fast-track drilling in the
Arctic Refuge and to begin clear cutting the critical Tongass National Forest --
“the Lungs of America.”
But even after Trump leaves office, Big Polluters and the politicians beholden
to them will continue their dirty work.
We’re working hard to stop these attacks on our public lands and the wildlife
and communities that rely on them. But we will also be pushing the new Biden
Administration to reverse the harms this last administration has wrought,
increase safeguards, and end our dependance on fossil fuel extraction entirely.
Stop Trump’s latest attacks on public lands, and help safeguard America’s wild
places forever. Make a $10 donation to Friends of the Earth.

communities that suffer for it. We need to stand up against those who are trying
to roll back environmental protections, from the Tongass Forest to the Grand
Canyon, from the Arctic Refuge to the Gulf Coast.
We’re going up against huge corporations and their powerful cronies in
government -- a daunting task. But with Friends of the Earth Members like you at
our side, I know we can win this fight and protect our climate and wild places.
We have a comprehensive plan to safeguard our public lands, prevent climate
chaos, and support communities on the front lines of this fight.
* We’ve sent hundreds of thousands of comments to government agencies demanding
that it protect landscapes like Tongass National Forest and the Arctic
National Refuge from mining and logging. This same strategy stopped the
destruction of several of our national monuments in recent years.
* We’ve launched lawsuits to protect some of America’s most iconic wild spaces
and public lands, and the communities and species that rely on them. This
includes the Arctic Refuge.
* We’re supporting allies in Congress to pass legislation protecting endangered
species and the habitats they depend on.
* We’re pushing Members of Congress to go on the record taking strong stances
against destructive megaprojects.
* We’re building support for a broader approach to phasing out fossil fuels and
reining in Big Industry once and for all. When President-Elect Biden takes
office next month, we’ll be there from Day One demanding he stop drilling,
mining and fracking on our public lands.
When we work together, we can do anything. But we’re running out of time to
prevent the worst impacts of climate chaos. We’ve got to act fast, before our
most iconic wild places and the biodiversity they support disappear forever --
and communities around the world are left with poisoned air, polluted water,
scarred land, and an unlivable planet.
We need to do everything we can now to resist these last attacks from the Trump
Administration. And we must make sure Joe Biden puts an end to oil and gas
drilling once he’s in office, and safeguards America’s public lands and wild
places for the long haul.
Make a generous contribution to Friends of the Earth and help protect our public
lands, climate, and communities from Big Polluters.
