These 3 steps will begin restoring trust and confidence.

Dear Friend,

Millions of American families, who are cruelly separated under the Muslim and African Bans, need the incoming administration to right this wrong — immediately — and begin a process to reverse the anti-Muslim bigotry that’s been incorporated into federal policy for so long.

Yesterday, I met with President-elect Biden’s transition team to lay out the specifics for where to start.

In order to begin restoring trust and confidence that Muslims and immigrants will be treated equally under the law, the Biden/Harris administration will need to:

  • Rescind the Ban on Day One. This first step will be vital to moving beyond the rhetoric of the past, but it alone will not undo the damage.

  • Institute the necessary steps to reunite families as quickly as possible. Visa applications from the affected countries must be processed on an expedited schedule, fees should be waived, and both the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of State must rigorously review their policies and practices.

  • Prioritize passage of the NO BAN Act, the first Muslim civil rights bill, within the first 100 days to ensure no President is able to abuse the Immigration and Nationality Act in a discriminatory manner again.

Ending the Muslim and African Bans will take more than a day. We must repair these deep wounds by ensuring this weaponization of the law never occurs again.

We will hold the incoming administration to their word, but we need your help. That’s why I’m encouraging you to sign this petition to the Biden transition team urging them to make good on the promises that they’ve made to the American Muslim community.

Advocates like you have gotten us this far. Let’s continue to work together to make America a place where people of all races and religions can live free and equal lives.

In solidarity,
