Friend --

We hope this email finds you and your family safe and healthy. Team Warner is committed to sending these updates to make sure that folks are up to date on Senator Mark Warner's work and priorities in the Senate.

Here's the latest:

- Mark continues to work with Senate colleagues on both sides of the aisle to negotiate interim coronavirus relief. With millions of Americans facing eviction or the loss of unemployment benefits early in the new year, he is determined to get this bridge package across the finish line before the holiday recess. This bi-partisan bridge package would help people get through the next few months before we can begin rebuilding our economy under the Biden administration.

- Mark met virtually with leaders in Southwest Virginia to discuss surging coronavirus cases in the area. Mark is calling for a public education campaign to make sure that every Virginian knows that the vaccine is safe and effective, and called on social media platforms to combat misinformation about the vaccine and vaccine development.

- Mark continues to work to expand affordable broadband access to every corner of the Commonwealth, especially during unprecedented demand for telework, distance learning, and telehealth during the coronavirus pandemic. He is working with local leaders in Wise County who are working to serve students in need of internet access using low orbit satellites.

- Mark praised the Virginia Commission for Historical Statues' recommendation that the Robert E. Lee statue in the U.S. Capitol be replaced with one of Barbara Johns, a civil rights leader from Prince Edward County who fought against school segregation and poor educational conditions. As governor, Mark led the effort to honor Johns with a statue on the Capitol grounds in Richmond.

- Mark was honored by the National Park Foundation for his work in passing the bi-partisan Great American Outdoors Act, a historic investment in the National Parks Service that will support 100,000 jobs in Virginia alone. Mark also met virtually with the new superintendent of Shenandoah National Park to discuss park strategy in 2021 and beyond.
