Many of you know my mom’s story. Growing up, her and her family faced a great deal of hardships. Despite all this, she was able to put herself through school and have a successful career. My mom is one of the strongest people I know. She worked hard and was determined to break the cycle of abuse in her family. And that’s exactly what she and my dad did with me and my three siblings.

My mom taught us to never take anything for granted and the importance of stepping up for our communities.
