The
Massachusetts Republican Party just came after Ayanna and our movement. In
an email to their supporters earlier today they wrote:
“We need to do everything we can [to] support our law enforcement
officers, and make a statement to leftist[s] like Ayanna that we’re not
going to sit back and quietly let her dismantle police departments
across the Bay State.”
The Massachusetts Republican Party is stoking fear, sticking up for a
deeply problematic system of policing, and attacking Ayanna’s work to end
police brutality and address racial inequities in the criminal injustice
system.

This attack on Ayanna and our movement comes on the heels of The Appeal
publishing body camera footage today that shows Boston police officers
assaulting protestors — and then bragging about it — during protests in
response to George Floyd’s murder.
Ayanna will always speak out about injustice and work intentionally to
codify healing. We need decisive action to combat the public health crisis
that is police brutality. We can and must advance bold and systemic policy
change at all levels of government to fundamentally reimagine our system
of policing and criminal injustice.
The MA GOP is coming after Ayanna because she is a leader in Congress on
this issue: she’s introduced legislation to end qualified immunity,
condemn police brutality, and decarcerate our system of mass
incarceration.
