The outgoing Trump administration did everything possible to take us backward, but we’ve been fighting back every step of the way. While we celebrate that Trump is leaving, the damage caused by his administration is profound and our work to undo this damage is just beginning. Your donations to Food & Water Watch make all of our legal efforts possible. Your gifts today will fund the hard work we are doing right now to:

- Reverse the biggest environmental rollback of the Clean Water Act in decades — a weak new Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule. The rule has left nearly a fifth of our rivers and streams, and more than half our wetlands unprotected from toxic runoff and contamination. This is an emergency for our rivers, lakes, streams and millions of acres of wetlands.

-Restore National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) protections. This bedrock law requires federal agencies to review the environmental impacts of their proposed actions. It has stood for decades as the “magna carta” of federal environmental laws. We’re challenging new rules that speed up, weaken and eliminate many of the NEPA requirements that have protected our environment and communities.

-Challenge the repeal of the meat safety protections that have been in place for more than 100 years. The rollback of these protections will effectively eliminate the federal inspection of pork carcasses for conditions such as septicemia and other causes of food-borne illnesses, and instead, slaughter plants will be allowed to police themselves.
