Space Force members will be known as “Guardians” from now on, Vice President Michael R. Pence announced during a Dec. 18 White House ceremony celebrating the new service's first birthday. “Guardians is a name with a long history in space operations, tracing back to the original command motto of Air Force Space Command in 1983, ‘Guardians of the High Frontier,’” according to the Space Force.
