Dear John,

I just want to make sure you saw my recent op-ed piece featured on Fox News. I felt inspired recently by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to share my own story of rising out of poverty.

AOC and I both come from humble backgrounds and worked hard in the food service industry to make to where we are today. That’s what’s beautiful about America! The difference is, AOC is promoting socialism, which will slam the door to any other American who wants to work their way out of poverty to a better life.

Hard work means nothing when citizens face a government who chooses the winners and losers. Only capitalism has been able to create the kind of opportunities in America that too many people now take for granted.

When I was a child, my family was often without electricity or running water, because my parents couldn’t afford to pay the bills. I never knew if dinner would be on the table or not.

Now I own a successful, multi-million-dollar business and employ hundreds of hardworking people. Only in this great country can a person grow up dirt poor and achieve tremendous success later in life through hard work and dedication.
