Yesterday, President-elect Joe Biden nominated Rep. Deb Haaland to head the Interior Department under his administration. As Interior Secretary, Haaland will become the first ever Native American to hold a cabinet secretary position -- an achievement that is long overdue.

As Secretary of the Interior, Deb Haaland will oversee an agency with a historically-destructive relationship towards Native American people. With Deb at the helm, however, the Department of the Interior -- an agency responsible for 500 million acres of public lands -- will protect our natural resources, instead of exploiting them.
