From the moment Biden won the election with a mandate from the biggest youth turnout in history for aggressive action on climate, Sunrise and allied movements have been pushing to hold him to those promises.

The pressure is working. Our demand for an Office of Climate Mobilization is on track to be realized, and Biden’s team is already filling environmental and climate roles in the administration with progressives who have no corporate fossil fuel ties.

We are well on our way to making the Green New Deal a reality. These wins are a start, but Biden’s cabinet is by no means perfect, and important positions are still in play. It’s up to Sunrise and allied movements to compel the new administration to take action against climate on Day One, including executive actions that could jumpstart the offensive against the climate crisis.
