John,

I wanted to make sure you saw the good news that a major veterans policy package I introduced has passed through Congress and is now on its way to the President’s desk for signature.

You can read more about this veterans legislation here >> [link removed];

H.R. 7105, the Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020 is a culmination of two years of our work on the Veterans Affairs Committee to support veterans returning to civilian life. I’m deeply grateful to my team and my colleagues in the House who helped get this bipartisan bill to the president’s desk -- because it’s needed now more than ever.

This pandemic has been devastating for all Americans, but particularly for our veterans. I’ve seen them lining up for food in our community. We’ve heard from homeless and housing insecure veterans who can’t access needed resources. And I meet regularly with veterans who struggle to start new careers.

The provisions in H.R. 7105 improve the education, housing, and survivor benefits for our veterans. Among other things, the legislation strengthens benefits programs for women, and makes needed improvements for VA’s health care, job training, and transition assistance programs.

Things can be chaotic in Washington, but we are breaking through the gridlock to get work done for the 49th District.

Of course, none of this would be possible without your continued support. So I want to extend my gratitude for everything you’ve done to help me continue working on behalf of our community.

Sincerely,

Mike
