Early voting started this Monday in Georgia for the Senate runoff elections. And yesterday (not even a week later!), the state reported that one million voters have already cast their ballots for their next U.S. Senators.
This is incredible, but if we want the same level of turn out as the November elections this time around, there's still a long way to go. A record 4.9 million Georgia voters cast their ballots this election — and thanks to the help of organizations like Stacey Abrams' Fair Fight Action, the state turned blue for the first time in decades.
The results of these runoff elections in Georgia will determine which party holds Senate control in the next Congress, and whether or not we'll be able to make progress on additional COVID relief, criminal justice reform, climate change, and much more.
That's why it's so important that we turn out a historic number of voters by January 5 to vote in these elections — and that's where Fair Fight Action comes in.
Founded by Stacey Abrams after the 2018 midterm elections, Fair Fight Action not only gets folks from voter registration to the ballot box — they also engage in voter mobilization and education for progressive issues, and mounted significant programs to combat voter suppression in Georgia and nationally.
Now, they're focused on making sure that voters have plans to cast their ballots for these critical runoff elections without a hitch, as well as keeping their eyes and ears to the ground for instances of voter suppression or fraud.
