** Announcing our 2021 affinity groups
------------------------------------------------------------

This summer, we hosted two Community Conversations around the topic of racial equity, giving members the opportunity to come together and process their reactions to the racial and economic unrest in our communities. During those conversations, we heard your call to convene identity-based affinity groups and communities of practice based around advancing equitable grantmaking.

We are grateful to the small group of members who joined us this fall to help us develop affinity group and community of practice offerings for 2021. Early next year, we’ll recruit members to help lead these groups. If you’re interested in stepping up to lead, please reach out to .

The latest news about our sector partnerships and how PEAK is advocating for more equitable grantmaking practices at conferences, convenings, and community conversations.

President and CEO Satonya Fair continued a busy schedule of meeting with sector leaders and partners to advance our call for more equitable grantmaking, including two meetings with Candid (one, as part of a consortium of philanthropy leaders urging changes in how we capture racial justice and racial equity grants), the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, BoardSource, Open Road Alliance, the National Center for Family Philanthropy and CHANGE Philanthropy.

Satonya also presented on Inclusive Grantmaking at the Hypertherm HOPE Foundation’s annual retreat. Hypertherm joined as an Organization Member this year and Stacey Chiocchio hit the ground running by extending this invitation for PEAK to support their efforts to advance equitable grantmaking practices.

Programs and Knowledge Director Melissa Sines presented a session entitled “Grantmaking has changed in the last six months... Will it stick?” at Philanthropy West Virginia’s annual conference.
