Let's talk about gerrymandering real quick.

You know it's bad, you know it's the reason the Republicans have a stranglehold on the U.S. House of Representatives. But to really wrap your head around how bad it is, you have to consider Wisconsin.

Here's how Wisconsin voted for House candidates in 2018:

In a democracy, you'd expect the party that won over half of the vote to get over half of the seats -- but because the GOP-controlled state legislature in Wisconsin gerrymandered their congressional map after the 2010 census, Democrats won over half the votes and got just over a third of the seats in 2018.

The Supreme Court recently declined to rule against partisan gerrymandering—allowing Republican state legislators to continue this unjust practice of drawing hyper-partisan electoral maps every 10 years. Our courts won’t save our democracy.

There's one way, and one way only that we're going to reclaim our democracy and restore full and fair representation for all Americans: Win back state legislatures.

The 2020 elections are our last chance to win back power before the next census and redistricting process, when state legislatures will redraw their congressional maps and cement the political landscape till 2032.
