Friends,

We are just 33 days away from the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, so we wanted to share with you some of the history behind inaugurations, why this one is particularly meaningful, and how you can be a part of it.

While every inauguration is consequential, this one is particularly historic.

This upcoming inauguration, the fifty-ninth in our nation's history, will feature the first female, African American, and Asian American Vice President sworn into office.

It will be a celebration not just for the 81 million-plus voters for the Biden-Harris ticket -- the most ever in a United States presidential election -- but for every American.

It will also consist mostly of virtual celebrations in order to protect the health and safety of the American public. (Consider that the 1949 inaugural ceremonies were the first to be televised, and the 1997 ceremonies were the first to broadcast live on the Internet.)

The inauguration ceremony has taken place at the U.S. Capitol 55 times, and it will again on January 20, 2021 -- but this year, every American can watch from home with virtual front-row seats.

The inauguration will look different this year, but we will continue to honor the inaugural traditions Americans have always known. Inaugurations have historically served as the final marker in the transfer of presidential power, and this year we will not only mark the end of one era but celebrate the beginning of a new one.

But we need your help to make sure this inauguration reflects the Biden-Harris administration and our shared values and ideals. Just as the Biden-Harris campaign was people-powered, so too is this celebration of democracy. Every supporter gets to own a piece of this history -- and in doing so, we can build the most memorable inauguration yet.

As a non-profit organization, the Presidential Inaugural Committee needs your help. Can you pledge $25 or whatever you can afford to be one of the grassroots donors who funds the 59th Presidential Inauguration in our country's history?

Chip in any amount to be an official grassroots owner of this historic day:
