Creating a Green Workforce - Community Based Solutions for a Diverse Green Jobs Sector

Last week we hosted an Uptown Chat to release our Green Jobs Report with the Environmental Justice Leadership Forum. Now you can watch the video in which we discuss the importance of a Just Transition in addressing climate change with our panel of distinguished guest, including Michael B. Gerrard, Director of the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law; Beverly Wright, Executive Director of the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice; and Donele Wilkins, CEO & President of the Green Door Initiative as well as our own Peggy Shepard, Charles Callaway, and Kerene Tayloe.

Come learn about our NYCHA Voter Engagement Plan – from the resident-driven platform we’ve been working on to our voter registration drive and get out the vote initiative for the 2021 New York City elections. Help Make NYCHA Residents a Priority

We have been working with Northern Manhattan NYCHA residents to develop a platform for the 2021 New York City elections, in which we will be voting for a new Mayor, Comptroller, four out of the five Borough Presidents, and two-thirds of the City Council. Please make a donation today to help us register thousands of NYCHA residents and turn them out at the polls in NYC’s June primary and November general election to ensure that our city’s new leadership makes ensuring the safety, health, and sustainability of NYCHA residents a top priority.

Peggy Shepard will be a guest on WNYC Radio's Brian Lehrer Show, discussing the nomination of Michael Regan to head the EPA. Tune in on Monday, Dec. 21 at 11 AM ET.

Peggy will also be speaking at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai’s 3rd Annual Clinical Climate Change Conference, discussing the intersection of COVID-19, climate change, and the racial justice movement at 10 AM ET on Friday, Jan. 8. RSVP Here

We are pleased to report some exciting staff news here at WE ACT. Clockwise above: Dana Johnson has been promoted to Director of the Federal Policy Office. Sonal Jessel has been promoted to Director of Policy. Taylor Morton has been promoted to Director of Environmental Health & Education. And Charles Callaway has been promoted to Director of Organizing. In addition, we welcome David Perelman as our new Voter Engagement Organizer.
