The federal government is selling the national archives building in Seattle. This facility is the repository for our history.
As
the LA Times wrote, this “has long been a treasure trove for anybody interested in the history of the Pacific Northwest or Alaska.” This includes documents of critical importance to numerous tribes in our region.
The federal government intends to move our documents a thousand miles away. The DNA of our state is located there, and for the federal government to treat it so cavalierly is frustrating to say the least.
That’s why I intend to file a lawsuit to block this sale and protect our state’s treasured historical documents and artifacts.
Will you add your name if you agree that these documents are crucial to our local history and must stay here? →
My late father, Murray Ferguson, spent many hours at the national archives. I know firsthand just how much history detailing how our region changed over the last few centuries resides there. We need to ensure these documents remain in Washington state.
This won’t go unchallenged — not under my watch.
