Friend, I’m writing to you from Common Cause Georgia -- where all eyes are on our state’s runoff election.
Right now, we are preparing to step up and continue our work to protect EVERY voter. We spent November 3rd -- and the rest of the fall -- watchdogging to stop the types of voter suppression, machine malfunctions, and voter confusion we saw in the June primary.
Now, as the entire nation’s eyes turn to Georgia’s Senate runoff -- I’m writing to you because we need your help. Common Cause Georgia has the expertise and already-built organizing network to mobilize and protect the rights of each and every voter during this all-important runoff election.
After putting nearly all we had into the general election, we now must keep this work going through January 5th. And I urgently need your support to make sure we can field every volunteer who signs up -- so that no voter is silenced during this hugely important runoff election.
Can you step up and rush an emergency contribution to Common Cause to sponsor a nonpartisan Election Protection volunteer in Georgia today?
Common Cause Georgia has spent years building the relationships that will make all the difference ahead of January 5th. We’ve been here fighting for voters’ rights -- and we’re working actively with county election officials to make sure every voter can cast their ballot safely and free from obstruction.
That’s how we were able to make such an impact with our Election Protection work during the general election -- and our state saw its highest-ever voter turnout in 2020. Sadly, many voters still faced severe barriers to the polls, and some were disenfranchised as a result.
But I want you to know that thanks to the support of Common Cause members like you, we were able to make a MAJOR impact for voters in our state and across the country.
Now, with control of the United States Senate in the balance -- and millions of dollars and the attention of every vote-suppressor in the country focused on Georgia -- we simply must be ready for anything.
I’m writing to you today because, ahead of the runoff, we urgently need an infusion of resources to ramp up our nonpartisan Election Protection program. Our team has been working non-stop to defend EVERY voter’s rights -- and I’m simply amazed at what we’ve been able to accomplish together so far.
But we’ll now be forced to double our efforts between today and January 5th if we want to make sure every single vote counts -- and that means springing into action immediately.
The 2020 election has already been among the most divisive and high-stakes in decades. And now, Georgia is right at the center of it.
But Friend, I’m taking the time to write to you because we urgently need to budget for this runoff election -- and the size of our operation will depend on whether Common Cause members like you nationwide can step up to make it possible.
I saw the difference our massive volunteer operation made. It’s absolutely imperative that we keep it running for this runoff.
That’s because we’re expecting even more attention -- and sadly, more cynical and shameful attempts to suppress the vote -- in our state than we've seen all year. And training, equipping, and placing the surge of volunteers we’re expecting will be expensive and time-consuming -- but absolutely necessary.
It costs us $50 to fully prepare one new volunteer for the field -- and I’m asking you if you’ll sponsor a volunteer today. Will you please pitch in what you can?
Whether you can afford to sponsor one volunteer, multiple volunteers -- or you can’t give $50, but can pitch in a few dollars to team up with a fellow Common Cause supporter -- please know your donation will make an immediate, direct impact on thousands of voters.
I hope you’ll chip in what you can today. Thank you for your support -- and for all you are doing for our democracy.
