Summayya and Asma: The story behind our gift card photograph

Not long ago, Summayya’s educational outlook was dismal. Her community
in Jordan lacked the resources to support students with disabilities,
and the 6‑year‑old with Down syndrome could not go to school. Through
Mercy Corps’ inclusive education program, Summayya was able to enroll in
a school and get daily support from Asma. Teachers like Asma provide the
classroom assistance and individualized lessons that students with
disabilities need in order to unlock new opportunities.
