It's the last weekend before Christmas! How about a visit to Newstead Abbey for a wonderful atmospheric wintery walk to experience enchantment and fairytales caught in festive glimpses through the Abbey windows?

As you delight in the outdoor festive storybook scenes, there is a great trail for the kids to follow. The Storybook outdoor trail runs until Sunday 3 January. Just pick up a £5 trail sheet from the shops, or café kiosk. There will be a wrapped prize for each trail completed.

Need to warm up with a coffee or a festive hot chocolate? No problem! the café and deli kiosk will be open for takeaway.

If you need to do a little last minute shopping or just fancy a bit of festive browsing then the craft stalls in the cloisters (weekends only) may have just what you are looking for. Enter through the Abbey shop which also has some wonderful decorations and novel present ideas...

Last chance to pay a Christmas trip to Woodthorpe Grange and the plant shop.

Christmas stalls will be selling crafts, gifts and some tasty Christmas treats to take away.

It's also a great chance to pick up a few unusual last minute gifts. There are some beautiful Christmas wreaths too.

It's also a lovely place for a winter walk - why not pop in and take a stroll and grab a selfie with Woody the Woodthorpe Park reindeer? Just look for his glowing nose - then you'll know you're in the right place!

Nottingham's Civic Christmas Service 2020

Each year, the city council is proud to join St Mary’s Church to celebrate Nottingham’s Civic Christmas Service. In unprecedented times, this is the first Civic Service presented on line.

The concert goes out with a huge thank you to Nottingham’s schools, choirs and faith leaders from different religions who have come together to reflect and celebrate #NottinghamTogether

Councillor Rosemary Healy, Lord Mayor of Nottingham will start the proceedings, followed by Rev Tom Gillum, with the Lord’s Prayer.

There will be carols sung by local schools, and a series of readings as well as a Thank You to Nottingham's frontline key workers.

Just the Tonic - Working from Home: Good Riddance 2020, New Year's Eve Special

It's New Year's Eve 2020... Just the Tonic is sticking two fingers up at the year and joyfully heading into 2021, with hope and mirth. They will bring a host of comedians to your home.

At this point a few names are confirmed... Romesh Ranganathan, Al Murray, Spencer Jones, Matt Forde (Voice of Spitting Image...) others are TBC. The event is hosted by Darrell Martin.

There will be a countdown to midnight, and music until at least 1am.

Either take a punt or come back later and see who is booked. Do not expect straight stand up! This is all new to everyone. The show itself will be from 8pm, but you can log in around 7.30pm for a specially selected playlist pre show type music type of thing!

There is a 20% discount when you purchase 4 tickets at once. Forward them to mates and get them involved. Why not join them on a Zoom call and share New Year's Eve?
