As 2020 comes to a close, we at ALIGN wanted to reach out and thank all of our supporters and allies for your amazing effort this year. All of us have dealt with unparalleled hardship as the COVID-19 pandemic revealed the gross inequities that are plaguing our community. Economic inequality and “pandemic profiteering” left thousands of New Yorkers to die while corporations received bailouts. New York City has never been tested like this before, but this struggle has show our resilience.

While politicians argued over whether our city even deserved support, ALIGN and our community partners came out to ensure our neighbors in private sanitation had food to eat and the protections they need to survive. Our coalition of labor allies and community organizations crafted the NY HERO Act to ensure safe workspaces, protect frontline workers, and slow the spread. We continued to fight for safe, high-quality, green jobs to create an economy that serves our communities and our planet.

ALIGN’s ability to bring together diverse community groups with dynamic leadership has allowed us to make great progress towards a more just and responsible society. But we can’t do it alone. Our work is only possible with the support of our friends and allies. That’s why I’m asking you to join us and make a contribution to ALIGN this month so we can enter 2021 with the resources to pass the NY HERO Act and continue building powerful coalitions that combat the systems of oppression at the root of economic, environmental, and racial injustice.
