Dear John,
Earlier this week, light broke into our dark days. The first healthcare workers were vaccinated, and I feel as if I’ve gotten a shot of hope for our collective future. Even as the pandemic rages on, we have reason to believe that 2021 will be better.

With presidential electors meeting across the country and casting their votes this week, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are now officially President-elect and Vice President-elect. Our democracy weathered an onslaught of challenges, but our system worked. Thank you for all you did to help win this critical election. Because of your patriotism our country will benefit and our democracy has endured.

This year we’ll all miss the hugs, our doorbells ringing, and the laughter and gabbing at holiday get-togethers, but our spirits are strong and we’re united. It is our American aspiration to look ahead to better times, to work for peace on earth, and offer goodwill to all.

May your holidays be healthy and peaceful, and always know you are a special blessing to me.

Anna
