John, a few people have asked me what the “FUDR” magnet on the back of my Jeep means. This is it:

I am a proud “friend of the Upper Delaware River.” The other weekend, I started out in upper Wayne County, floating down from near Hancock, NY about 8 miles as we wetted our lines and took in this view. It was a great day, and we’re lucky to have access to these incredible landscapes right here in northeastern PA.

But not everyone is so lucky. Landfills, hazardous waste sites, and other industrial facilities are most often located in communities of color. Low-income communities disproportionately lack public green space and face barriers to accessing our natural resources.

That’s why I’m fighting in Congress to ensure every single American has clean air and water, and access to parks and safe outdoor spaces.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen budget cuts out of Washington that devastate the programs meant to expand access to environmental justice programs. Can you add your name to this petition to tell the administration to fund environmental justice programs and hold polluters accountable?

Thanks for speaking out!
