Dear John,
Big things are happening in Georgia this week. Here is what you need to know:
1. The American people’s voices were heard. On December 14, elected officials from across the 50 states gathered to cast their votes for President of the United States. Among those representatives were Georgia’s Democratic electors. Georgia’s 16 electoral college votes were cast for Joe Biden, totaling over 270 votes. This formally seals Joe Biden’s victory and is the beginning of a new chapter for the American people.
2. Early in-person voting has begun in Georgia. This Monday, voters lined up to cast their ballots in the Georgia Senate run-off election, where two U.S. Senate seats are up for grabs. In-person voting will play a critical role in this election’s results due to the short turnaround time of requesting and receiving ballots. We have the opportunity to elect Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff — two leaders who will fight the status quo and advocate for Georgians. Click here to check your polling location: [link removed].
3. First shipments of the COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Georgia, just days after its authorization for emergency use by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). On Monday, December 14, the vaccine was administered to five nurses in Savannah, Georgia. The plan remains that front line health care workers and residents in long term care facilities will have priority access to the vaccine. For COVID-19 updates, visit my website>> [link removed]
Please consider making a recurring donation that will allow my office to continue providing essential services to Georgia’s second congressional district.
