During this holiday season which should be filled with joy for every family, my thoughts turn to children whose only holiday wish is for food.
Children like 6-year-old Julita, who used to wake up every morning wondering if she would be able to eat that day. She wished for a day where she would no longer feel the pain of hunger.
Her parents worked hard as laborers in rural Malawi and also farmed their own land to make ends meet. But like so many children in hardworking poor families, Julita often found herself with nothing to eat until the late afternoon, if at all.
