"We are everywhere."
When an Anne Frank memorial in Idaho was defaced last week with a swastika, the vandals left this chilling message.
Why is it particularly haunting? Perhaps because these days it can feel like antisemitism is indeed lurking around every corner.
White supremacists marching in Charlottesville. Jews murdered in Pittsburgh, Poway, Jersey City, and Monsey. Attacks on the streets of major European cities. Synagogues and Jewish cemeteries vandalized almost daily.
Where does it end? And, more importantly, how?
It ends with us. Each one of us must refuse to stand on the sidelines while antisemitism rises. We must choose to act. To stand up and fight.
AJC is leading that fight in city halls and on Capitol Hill… with world leaders and law enforcement authorities... in partnership with social media giants and allies in other faith and ethnic groups.

When hatred against Jews spikes, it is easy to despair, to retreat, or to turn away. But when you partner with AJC, we can make serious strides against antisemitism. We’ve already had so many successes:
- Together, we are inspiring our leaders to act. Whether it’s by advocating for legislation, urging adoption of a universal definition of antisemitism, or helping law enforcement understand the scope and scale of the problem, we are making it clear that fighting Jew-hatred should never be viewed as a Jewish problem alone. It must be a priority for society at large.
- Together, we are pushing back against online hate. Extremism is flourishing on the internet. In response, AJC helped convince Facebook, with its platform of more than two billion users, to ban content that denies or distorts the Holocaust, a dramatic shift in policy for the company. Praising AJC’s role in the decision, Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg stated: “Our experience with AJC has been that you are people who we can really trust and learn from.”
- Together, we are building diverse coalitions to tackle hatred. In 2020 alone, AJC brought the senior-most Islamic leadership delegation ever to Auschwitz; organized Black-Jewish Unity Week with the National Urban League; worked with, among others, our Muslim allies to advocate for the passage of improved hate crimes legislation; and reached across faith lines to combat antisemitism among Christians. The Jewish people can’t win this fight without allies. AJC is building and strengthening our bonds with other minority communities.
Battling the world’s oldest hatred is a daunting task, but it’s up to us to be a part of the solution.
