Take Action: Urge California lawmakers to open schools only when it is safe
Dear John,
Please take a moment to write to Governor Newsom and your elected representatives in Sacramento, expressing your concerns about AB 10, legislation recently introduced that would compel California K-12 schools to reopen for in-person instruction on or after March 1, 2021, so long as they are not in the purple tier.
Urge Governor Newsom and your representatives to reopen schools only when it is safe
California teachers and classified school employees want nothing more than to return to our classrooms and know there is no equal substitute for regular, in-person learning. We miss our students and want to be back in our classrooms in a manner that both meets the educational needs of our students and keeps our members, our students, and our communities safe.
But we cannot support our schools being reopened in a manner that is unsafe for students, teachers, staff, or their families. Science and community safety, not political pressure, must be the guiding force in any discussion about reopening our schools to in-person instruction.
Please take a moment to send a letter to Governor Newsom and your representatives, urging them to reopen schools for in-person instruction only when it is safe.
