Dear NRDC Activist,

I'm writing to let you know that I have accepted President-elect Joe
Biden's invitation to become his administration's National Climate
Advisor.

This was a difficult decision to make. This is a senior White House
position, reporting directly to the President, which will head the newly
formed White House Office of Domestic Climate Policy. The Office will
coordinate a National Climate Taskforce made up of agency and office heads
across the Biden-Harris Administration.

In creating the position, President-elect Biden and Vice President Harris
have made sure we address the climate crisis with the urgency it deserves.
It is a profound opportunity to be of service to our movement, our
country, and our future. And it's one I simply cannot refuse.

It has been an incredible honor to lead NRDC through such a critical
moment in the fight for our future. For 50 years, its policy, legal and
advocacy expertise have made NRDC one of the nation's most effective
voices for climate action.

I am proud that, despite the many challenges that 2020 has presented, NRDC
is as strong as ever. And that strength comes from the dedicated and
unwavering support of NRDC members and supporters like you.

My last day with NRDC will be January 8th, and in the coming weeks, I will
be working closely with Mitch Bernard, who will serve as Interim
President, to ensure a smooth transition. Mitch has served NRDC for 32
years, including leading NRDC's absolutely critical and successful legal
response to the Trump Administration for the last four years. I know that
NRDC will continue to benefit from his expertise and fierce leadership.

The years ahead will be filled with opportunity to create the change we've
been seeking for so long. Your support for NRDC's enduring work to push
for that change is essential. Nothing ever happens in our democracy unless
the people demand it. NRDC plays a critical role in representing the
public's call for climate action, clean air, safe water and a better
future.

Please keep up the fight. I'll be expecting to hear from NRDC members and
supporters, and I look forward to it.

Thank you,
