Hi friend --

“People on Twitter have posted photographs of my house.”

Ann Jacobs, chair of the Wisconsin Elections Commission, recently told the New York Times about the “constant threats” she and her family have received. Trump supporters have even mentioned her children in their taunts, with one saying: “I’ve heard you’ll have quite a crowd of patriots showing up at your door.”

Trump’s lost the election. And the Electoral College met on December 14 to formally cast their votes, meaning Trump’s fate is sealed. Nothing he can do will change that now.

But his fiercest supporters will never stop believing this election was stolen from him. They’ll keep threatening officials like Jacobs, or like Michigan state rep Cynthia Johnson -- who received “racist death threats” on her voicemail per the Times.

Or like Jocelyn Benson, Michigan secretary of state, who was hanging Christmas decorations with her toddler when dozens of alt-right fanatics showed up at her home.

“They’re in front of my house,” Benson said, “in the dark of night, in this very private, quiet residential neighborhood. We are concerned not only for the safety of my family, but my neighbors as well.”

This is beyond unacceptable. It’s unimaginable -- yet it’s happening.

We want to protect our neighbors. We want to repudiate the despicable behavior of the Trumpers who can’t let go. We want to call on Republian officials to end this charade, condemn violence and threats in no uncertain terms, and do everything we can to make sure the vulnerable among us are protected fully by the law and by their fellow progressives.

But the other side is, right now, not backing down. Will you join us in standing by Ann Jacobs, Cynthia Johnson, Jocelyn Benson, and all the Americans who the far-right have in their sights?
