[1]Ayanna Pressley
Today
would've been my mother's 74th birthday.
My mom, Sandy Pressley, loved her family, community, politics, and sports.
She loved the color purple, theater, jazz, to laugh and to dance. Sandy
Pressley was a woman of strong faith and I have no doubt she would've
considered herself a Matthew 25 Christian - she lived her life in service
to the least of these.
Sandy's last activist steps were taken at the annual Mother's Day Louis D.
Brown Peace Walk; her last civic action was to change her voting status
from New York to Massachusetts.
My mother was a super voter and poll worker. She was looking forward to
casting a vote for her daughter for the very first time in my first City
Council re-election bid. I'll never forget her shaking but determined hand
as she signed my nomination papers. Sadly, cancer, being the cruel thief
that it is, denied my mom her chance to cast that final ballot.

to please sign up for a phone or text bank shift today with Fair Fight.
Together, we can ensure we are victorious in Georgia, regain control of
the Senate, and make real strides towards the things my mother dedicated
her life to: peace, equality and justice.

The Georgia Senate runoff is in less than two weeks and so much is at
stake. Flipping these two Senate seats would mean that we can make so much
more progress on the entrenched inequities and disparities facing our
communities. We have to make sure that every single voter has a plan to
cast their vote and make their voice heard on January 5th.

up for an organizing shift with Fair Fight today and help get out the vote
for the January 5th runoff election in Georgia.
Thank you for your partnership and for helping to honor Sandy’s legacy,
Ayanna Pressley
