We have been tackling educational inequities for 21 years, and as of today, we have a new partner to help us continue this important work! Advancement Project National Office is happy to announce our partnership with Arnold & Porter [[link removed]] to push forward the right to quality education for Black and Brown children.

Through this exciting partnership, we are expanding and improving our Opportunity to Learn program to fight systemic racism in the U.S. public education system, by increasing our litigation and advocacy strategies in the coming year.

For years, we’ve been on the frontlines, conducting research, using litigation, policy research, advocacy, and strategic communications, to support Black and Brown communities in their efforts to improve educational opportunities. Just to name a few of our past efforts: We’ve pushed the U.S. Department of Justice to ensure the construction of a state-of-the-art public school in Mississippi, originally intended for wealthy white students, would also be accessible to Black and Brown students. We’ve organized with our grassroots partners to help stop school closures by filing three complaints under Title IV and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 with the U.S. Departments of Justice and Education, alleging that the closing of public schools in Newark, Chicago and New Orleans discriminated against students of color.

With Arnold & Porter’s support, we will continue to do this work through our Opportunity to Learn program, which allows us to collaborate with grassroots organizations to pursue educational equity [[link removed]] and end the school-to-prison pipeline [[link removed]] .

Advancement Project and Arnold & Porter have a long history of working together on important racial justice issues and we look forward to partnering with them on such critical and necessary work to break down structural barriers to education.

It's time to get to work!

Arnold & Porter, an international corporate law firm, created The Arnold & Porter Foundation to further advance efforts toward equality and justice, provide scholarships to Black and Brown law students, funds fellowships for recent law school graduates at tax-exempt organizations, and award grants to other charitable and educational organizations.
